Grand Rounds/Regularly Scheduled Series Overview

The University of Minnesota Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor educational activities. The ACCME defines Regularly Scheduled Series (RSSs) as:

"Daily, weekly, or monthly CME activities of ACCME accredited providers that are primarily planned by and presented to the provider's professional staff."

Typical types of these activities include Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs and Case Conferences. The OCME follows the guidelines and standards that are set by the ACCME for granting credit to RSSs. Full compliance and documentation are required in order to receive credit and certificates. The OCME will maintain a tracking system for those materials that are required to be on file in our department.

These Web pages are designed to provide understanding regarding the RSSs process and the tools to help facilitate ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement in order to ensure full compliance.

For an RSS to be considered for CME credit, the Application for AMA Category 1 Credit must be completed and turned into our office for approval.
