Why I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School

Hello! I'm from a large family, lived in Minneapolis almost my entire life. I went to the University of Minnesota for undergrad, and loved it so much I stayed for Medical School. I enjoy hiking/backpacking, playing guitar, cooking with my Instant Pot, and hanging out with friends! Minneapolis is home for me; I have spent significant time engaging with, learning from, and really appreciating this wonderful diverse community! In addition to all the people, there is a lot to do in Minneapolis. I especially enjoy getting outdoors, which we have easy access to. Beyond location, the UMN Medical School is like family to me. We have a large class that you quickly get to know very well - all wonderful individuals! Incredibly supportive culture, and at the same time we have a lot of fun together! I think a third important point about the UMN is that the medical school is embedded in the university and is part of an academic health center, so there are almost limitless opportunities! And if there isn't currently something you're interested in, they'll help you get a project started! I could go on! Beyond general questions, I'm happy to answer questions about: Career discernment, Student groups, Curriculum development, Community volunteering
