Why I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School

I chose this medical school because the mission of rural family medicine is something I am very passionate about. I grew up in a small town and my vision has always been to practice in a rural community and raise my family in a setting similar to where I was raised. I also knew the Duluth campus was very tight-knit with close relationships with fellow classmates and professors. The systems-based curriculum and bi-weekly exams along with early clinical exposure was another strong pull for me to this campus. Duluth is also a vibrant city with so many things to do such as hiking and trying new restaurants and breweries.

Medical interests

I am interested in full-spectrum Family Medicine and Obstetrics.

Community Involvement

I am on the board of the Family Medicine Interest Group and also a member of Christian Medical and Dental Association. For FMIG, I help organize and attend events such as lunch lectures from members in the community and networking events with Duluth residents. My weekly bible study is not only a time to learn and meditate but a time to connect with my faith-friends.

In my free time, I exercise by taking advantage of different classes at the recreation center, my favorites being strengthening and stretching, Tabata, or Zumba classes. I enjoy trying new restaurants but often return to my favorites, such as Uncle Louis.
