Why I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School

I am originally from Minnesota, but moved away to play Division 1 Hockey at Pennsylvania State University. During my time at Penn State I was part of the Schreyer Honors College and worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Lindner Lab on Malaria research. After graduating with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play hockey professionally in Vienna, Austria for a year before starting medical school. I selected UMN Medical School because of their values to constantly pursue improvement in their curriculum, their emphasis on the importance of mental and physical health during medical school training, and the proximity of the school to my family and support system. Beyond general questions, I'm happy to answer questions about: I am currently in RPAP and am happy to talk to anyone about the LIC options. I also put an emphasis on balancing physical and mental health during my medical training, and how I prioritized studying vs. everything else.
