Why I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School

I am originally from Coimbatore, a beautiful town located in the southernmost state of India. After completing my BS there, I moved to the US with my husband. Went to graduate school at Drexel University, worked in basic science research for a few years, had my daughter and then came back to school. That has been my learner journey in a nutshell. I aspire to become a physician scientist someday. I love dance, classical music and painting. I am slowly learning how to balance time, recognize and manage maternal guilt. I feel very supported by the administrative staff. A sense of belonging and acceptance is what drew me to UMN. Beyond general questions, I'm happy to answer questions about: Never losing the joy of learning for its own sake, research and medicine, first generation immigrant, new cultures and diversity, art and medicine.
