Why I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School

I chose the U for many reasons. They had a great program that was student centered and built to be low stress and very welcoming. There is also access to a ton of hospitals and clinics within the twin cities and around Minnesota, something many schools do not have. The patient population is also very diverse and consists of many different ethnic groups and cultural competency and immigrant health is a specific interest I had coming into medical school. Though I was leaving my support system back in Georgia, Minneapolis seemed like a welcoming city and the program seemed like one I could thrive in.
