Please welcome our newest faculty member, Dr. Heidi Kletzien!

Please welcome our newest faculty member, Dr. Heidi Klezien! Heidi joined MIBAM in September of 2025 and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development.

Her lab takes an integrative multi-omics approach using genetic engineering tools, novel preclinical models, and primary tissue samples to uncover fundamental drivers of age-related swallowing dysfunction and head and neck cancer initiation, with the ultimate goal of developing targeted therapies for the prevention and early treatment of disorders and diseases that affect the head and neck tissues.
