Dr. Joseph is a Wexler Professor of Medicine and general internist in the Department of Medicine. She received her medical training at the University of Michigan and received a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. She directs the Applied Clinical Research Program in the Department of Medicine and is Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Diversity for the Department of Medicine. Her primary research interests are in tobacco control. Her work has focused on smoking cessation and smoking reduction interventions for special populations of smokers, proactive and longitudinal models of tobacco treatment, biomarkers of childhood tobacco smoke exposure and parental smoking cessation, and smoking cessation in the context of lung cancer screening. Dr. Joseph is past president of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco.
