Summary

I am a board certified Hematologist/Oncologist and my clinical expertise is in aggressive lymphomas [T cell lymphoma, Adult T cell Leukemia Lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. I focus on delivering the best clinical care for the patient which includes - new FDA approved drugs, access to clinical trial drugs, cellular therapy and Bone marrow transplant. Every individual patient is different and I help patients with lymphoma and myeloma choose the best option. My research interests are in T cell lymphoma, cellular therapy in lymphoma and myeloma and exploring immune checkpoints. I have done significant work in T cell lymphoma -Adult T cell Leukemia Lymphoma and elucidating the differences based on geographic location i.e patients presenting with the same disease in the US have a different genomic profile than Japanese patients with the same cancer. We also showed that the PD-1 blocking drug - Nivolumab, when used in this cancer can potentially worsen this disease which was published in New England Journal of Medicine. In cellular therapy, I have extensive experience in taking care and successfully treating patients with CAR T therapy in lymphoma. We have done educational programs on CART therapy for lymphoma and who should receive it. I believe that unanswered questions from patients should be translated to research in a scientific way to enhance basic and clinical understanding.
