Summary
Dr. Peter Igarashi is Nesbitt Chair and Head of the Department of Medicine and member of the Renal Diseases & Hypertension Division. Dr. Igarashi studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) before earning his MD from UCLA's School of Medicine. He is a former holder of the Robert Tucker Hayes Distinguished Chair in Nephrology at the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center and has taught at that institution as well as Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at the University of California, Davis Medical Center before completing a nephrology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. His research focuses on kidney development, transcription regulation, and polycystic kidney disease (PKD).
