Dr. Samar Malaeb received her medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon in 2006. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts (2010), then a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism from the University of Minnesota (2013). She also earned a Masters in Nutrition Science and Policy from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition (2016). Dr. Malaeb manages a variety of Endocrine issues, with a clinical and research interest in diabetes, nutrition and weight management. Dr. Malaeb’s focus is in medical education, specifically in integrating the foundational sciences with clinical practice as it relates to Endocrinology, Nutrition and Preventative Health. At the University of Minnesota Medical School, she holds several roles in medical education including: Associate Program Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship training program and Co-Director of the Human Health & Diseases 4 course (Endocrine, Renal and Reproductive Pathophysiology) for Medical School year 2. She is also a core lecturer in Nutritional Biochemistry in Medical School year 1. Dr. Malaeb is vested in incorporating nutrition education in medical curricula, as well as raising awareness about the role of diet in health and disease for practicing physicians and the general public. In her spare time, she enjoys Mediterranean cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
