Summary

Dr. Byrd is a University of Minnesota Assistant Professor of Medicine and general medicine hospitalist. He also holds an Affiliate Faculty appointment at the Institute for Health Informatics. Dr. Byrd attended medical school at the University of New Mexico and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University, where he subsequently completed an academic hospital medicine fellowship and earned his master’s in health and biomedical informatics. Dr. Byrd studies the adoption, adaptation, and acceptance of health information technologies in clinical care settings. His research focuses on the human-computer interface of clinical decision support systems, including machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. His teaching interests include diagnostic reasoning, Bayesian testing approaches, and digital technology fluency.
