Summary

Ifelayo Ojo completed his pediatric residency training (global health track) at the University of Minnesota. Prior to this, he worked as a Consultant with the World Bank Group with a focus on health systems development in Africa.

Dr. Ojo graduated from the University of Ilorin College of Medicine in Nigeria; and studied Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Maryland, where he received the Student Recognition Award for Outstanding Service in 2009. Dr. Ojo has conducted public health research in diverse settings across Sub-Saharan Africa –Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, and Tanzania. His professional objective is to combine general pediatrics with translational research, capacity development and program implementation for the protection of the health and development of children, especially in low and middle-income countries. He is currently working with Dr. Tina Slusher to design and test an improved LCD temperature monitoring disc for infants receiving filtered sunlight phototherapy (FSPT). Formative research on the existing disc was the Winning Abstract in the Resident Research/QI category at the 2017 Pediatric Abstract and Poster Competition organized by Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
