Summary

Lisa Butcher is a Speech-Language Pathologist and Vocologist at the Lions Voice Clinic. Her work combines a passion for treating injured voices with extensive evaluation and treatment of voice disorders, including not only singers and other voice professionals, but also neurological, degenerative and non-organic voice disorders.

Ms. Butcher (a lyric-coloratura soprano), a native of Minnesota, holds a B.M. in Voice Performance from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, as well as an M.M. in Voice Performance with honors from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. In addition, she holds an M.A. degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus.

With special interest in the singing voice and vocal pedagogy, Ms. Butcher completed the Summer Vocology Institute in 2006, which is headed by Dr. Ingo Titze, through the University of Iowa. She is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) holding a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP), as well as belonging to many local professional organizations.

Ms. Butcher continues to sing professionally, and has been involved in many performance opportunities in the Twin Cities area, including: as a soloist with the 3M Symphony Orchestra, singing the title role in Treemonisha with the North Star Opera Company (now Skylark Opera), participating in the Minnesota Orchestra's production of Amahl and the Night Visitors, as well as ensemble and small roles in numerous productions with the Minnesota Opera Company. During the Minnesota Opera's 2006-2007 season, Ms. Butcher worked full-time as Teaching Artist for the company's youth educational programs, teaching opera in public and private high schools in the area, and held the position of administrator for the Project Opera ensembles.
