Summary

Dr. Leschke obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he then completed a residency in neurology. He has a diverse background, with an undergraduate degree in music and a year spent in Madrid, Spain, as a Spanish language student. He then earned a Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera, the official accreditation for Spanish language fluency. Dr. Lechske also spent time in a rural Ecuador medical immersion program.

He has volunteered with the Medical College of Wisconsin-affiliated hospital Housestaff Health and Welfare Committee and served as a Graduate Medical Education Committee representative. He also worked for two years at the Saturday Free Clinic for the Uninsured.

Dr. Lechske continues to stay in touch with his musical interests and plays piano, both professionally and for personal pleasure. He has trained for and completed two Iron Man Triathlons and plays intramural basketball and softball.

  • Targeting Iron Homeostasis for the Treatment of Glioblastoma Multiforme – independent work in the laboratory of Dr. Christopher Chitambar working with glioblastoma cell lines in culture
  • Outpatient Follow-up and Re-hospitalizations for Sickle Cell Disease Patients. Conducted literature review, developed methods and analyzed hospital utilization patterns of 408 sickle cell disease patients enrolled in Wisconsin Medicaid from 2003-2007 under the mentorship of Dr. David Brouss.
