Summary
I received my BA in psychology, and my medical degree from Ohio State University. I completed my General Psychiatry Residency Program (with extra emphasis in addiction and forensic psychiatry), and my Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, here at the University of Minnesota. I serve as the Physician Chief of the Behavioral Health Service Line, and an Assistant Professor for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. I am a board-certified psychiatrist who has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children. I treat depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, substance-related and addictive disorders, attention disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. While medical expertise and psychopharmacology form the foundation of my treatment, I believe warmth and a sense of compassion are key motivating factors for the success of the people I work with. I help patients understand their options and create appropriate treatment plans that empower them to move toward positive change. I have been awarded “Top Doctor” by Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine every year from 2014 to 2021. I was president of the Minnesota Psychiatric Society 2020-2021, and was also the co-editor of the Minnesota Psychiatric Society's newsletter, Ideas of Reference, from 2010-2019.
