Summary
My clinical work focuses on Critical Care Medicine. I practice primarily at University of Minnesota Medical Center and Fairview Southdale hospitals. My academic work focuses on Global Health and Humanitarian Response. I am the program director of the University of Minnesota Humanitarian Simulation. The program is a full-scale field exercise of a humanitarian emergency. It prepares prospective humanitarian aid workers and volunteers to work in humanitarian emergencies and allows participants to better understand the experiences of refugees and internally displaced persons. The course is offered as a one-credit elective through the school of Public Health, and as a learning experience for people from the wider community. I also direct the Graduate Medical Education and Research Program in the medical school, which serves to mentor medical students who want to incorporate international experiences into their medical school experience.
