Sashi's interest in medicine and infectious diseases was kindled when he moved from Massachusetts to India during high school. He graduated as the Valedictorian of his medical school at Amrita University in Kerala, India. After research training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, he completed his internal medicine residency at the Henry Ford hospital in Detroit and then an infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He subsequently completed an additional year of advanced training in transplant, oncologic and immunocompromised infections. His interests lie in diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship, pre-transplant optimization, antibiotic allergies and the intersection of transplant infectious diseases and tropical medicine.
