Muhamad joined SDI in 2004. He is currently the Human Islet Program Coordinator. He coordinates the islet isolation activities with Quality Assurance and Material management at the Molecular Cell Therapeutic facility, the GMP facility located on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. He has participated in processing more than 880 clinical pancreatic islet isolations for treating type one diabetes, in addition to 800 large animal islet isolations, 100 primate islet isolations, and 2500 small animal surgeries for different research purposes. His particular research interest is in improving the islet isolation process as well as improving quality and quantity of the islet products.
