Kacey Guenther graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics, Cell Biology & Development from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2015. After graduating, she spent 2 years at the National Institutes of Health as a post-baccalaureate research fellow studying DNA repair in Fanconi anemia. She returned to the University of Minnesota in 2018 as an MD/PhD candidate, and is interested in the applications of bone marrow transplantation and gene editing/gene therapy for rare genetic diseases, particularly epidermolysis bullosa. When not in the lab or studying for medical school exams in local coffee shops, Kacey can be found swimming laps, exploring new restaurants, or traveling. Research Interests: recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, genome editing, stem cell biology, DNA replication & repair
