Dr. Wallace et al. updated chapter in 4th edition titled “Causes and Consequences of Perturbations of the Mitochondrial Genome”

Dr. Ken Wallace co-authored a 2nd edition of his book chapter “Mitochondrial Genomics and Targeted Toxicities” in Comprehensive Toxicology (3rd edition, 2018). The updated chapter in the 4th edition (2024; eBook ISBN: 9780323954891) is authored by King, Copeland, Wallace and Meyer and titled “Causes and Consequences of Perturbations of the Mitochondrial Genome”.

The updated content of the book chapter includes a description of the composition and structure of the mitochondrial genome and the molecular regulation of its replication, repair and transcription.  The final sections of the chapter emphasize the stability of the mitochondrial genome in response to various environmental influences including chemical exposures, dietary 
influences and aging.
