Amy Hauck, a new faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics at the University of Minnesota, studies metabolic health, focusing on how biological rhythms such as sleep and hormone cycles impact metabolism. Hauck's research explores how nuclear receptors in fat, liver, and muscle tissues influence gene activity, which has implications for metabolic diseases like diabetes and insulin resistance. Her work aims to understand how these receptors can be targeted by pharmaceuticals. Hauck, originally from Minnesota, is excited to return home and continue her research on metabolism’s role in health, while enjoying the outdoors with her family.
