Chief Resident: Andrew Evelsizer

Andrew Evelsizer
Where are you from?
I grew up in Fairmont, which is a small town in southern MN.
Where did you do undergrad and med school?
I went to Bethel University in the twin cities area for undergrad and Loma Linda University in California for medical school.
What do you do when you're not practicing medicine?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, and basically anything outdoors: Golfing, biking, camping/hiking, skiing, and being on and around the lakes. We like finding good food, drinks, and events around the metro area, as well as traveling as much as possible.
Why did you choose the U of M for your residency?
For me, choosing the U of M was easy. This program stood out among others due to its reputation for high case volume and a wide variety of pathology from four practice sites which would guarantee me an outstanding education and start to my radiology career. I could tell there was great camaraderie among residents and a clear commitment from leadership to the well being of residents and fellows. Beyond that, I knew and loved Minneapolis as an active, diverse city with many opportunities for my growing family (and plenty of golf courses and lakes).
Where do you see yourself in the near future?
I will be staying at the U of M to complete a fellowship in thoracoabdominal imaging.
