Welcome to the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine (IDIM). We are comprised of over 50 faculty, including affiliated sites. Many faculty have multifaceted roles as educators, clinicians, and research professionals both locally and internationally. Our division takes great pride in achieving excellence and we continually strive to set the bar in the areas of education, research and patient care.

Antimicrobial Stewardship

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (ISDA) has honored the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) as an Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence. Following seven core Elements of Hospital Antibiotic Stewardship, UMMC has demonstrated excellence in antibiotic stewardship in the hospital setting and provides a gold standard of care in combating antimicrobial resistance.

Program in Transplant Infectious Disease

The Program in Transplant Infectious Diseases integrates clinical care with clinical research. Between stem cell transplantation, abdominal organ transplantation, and thoracic organ transplantation, our program supports the infectious disease consultation needs of a base of nearly 600 patients who undergo transplantation at our center each year.
