Where are you from?
I am from San Diego, CA.
Where did you do undergrad and med school?
I went to the University of California, San Diego for my B.S. in Human Biology. I then attended the University of California, Irvine for medical school.
What do you do when you're not practicing medicine?
I enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife and kids. We do a lot of hiking, biking, playing frisbee and basketball. I also make time to lift weights at the gym.
Why did you choose the U of M for your residency?
I chose the University of Minnesota for residency because of the variety of training sites. I believe we get a well-rounded education. The University Medical Center offers complex oncology, interstitial lung disease, and solid organ transplant. Hennepin Health is a fantastic trauma center with a robust emergency department. The Minneapolis VA Medical Center is probably the best VA in the country. Finally, Masonic Children’s Hospital provides excellent training in pediatrics and obstetrics. One of the best parts about our residency is the collegiality of the staff, and the mentorship we get during residency.
Where do you see yourself in the near future?
I decided to stay at the University of Minnesota for MSK fellowship.
