Implicit Bias Workshops
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) presents training in implicit bias that is customized for the Medical School. Implicit bias workshops are an important part of the Medical School’s efforts to cultivate an environment of diversity, inclusiveness, equal opportunity and respect for the similarities and differences in our community. The training assists faculty with search processes, search committees, promotion and tenure committees, or other activities. The Medical School is committed to increasing diversity among its staff, faculty and students in admissions, promotions, scholarship decisions and other related selection processes.
In this workshop, participants will:
· Review the breadth of implicit bias research
· Recognize shortcuts that are the result of unconscious or unexamined bias
· Apply and demonstrate practices and resources for addressing implicit bias in the context of search, selection and promotion processes
