Family Day

Join us for a fun-filled day that promises to be both informative and entertaining as we give you an inside look at what life as a medical student is like. Family Day is a time for families to connect with their students at their new home within the Medical School, explore campus and participate in several events and activities. A schedule of activities can be found below.

Family Day 2019 will be held August 22-23 and registration is required.

Join us for a fun social hour to kick off family activities.  Enjoy some light snacks and beverages while mingling with other students and faculty members of the Medical School.

Friday, August 23

8:30-10:30 a.m.     On-Campus Activities

Sign-up to attend a tour of the new Health Sciences Education Center and see where your student will take classes and learn over the course of their education. Enjoy the rich history of the Medical School with a visit the Owen H. Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine where you can see and feel historic books and artifacts dating back to the early years of the Medical School.

Students and family members are invited to join us for brunch to celebrate the beginning of your journey at the Medical School. Meet other family members and socialize with faculty. Seating is limited, so register early to attend this event!

White Coat Ceremony

Cap off Family Day by attending the Medical School’s annual White Coat Ceremony. The White Coat Ceremony is a rite of passage that serves to welcome new medical students to the profession and reinforce the value of humanism as foundational to medicine. Tickets are not required for entry, and all seating is first-come, first-serve.

Event Check-in

We ask that registered families check-in with our staff prior to attending activities on Thursday and Friday.  At check-in you will receive program materials and a name tag.  For more information on building locations and public parking, be sure to use the interactive campus map.

In addition to the METRO Green Line traveling through campus, FREE campus shuttles run every 10 minutes on weekdays. These shuttles, also called Campus Connectors, will display "Route 121" on the front of the bus.
