In development

Residents will have one 18-hour shift every 4 weeks, combining inpatient/OB call and ER night coverage.

The second and third years will be almost entirely longitudinal. Family Medicine Service will be scheduled for a 6-day block every 4 weeks. During the other weeks, residents will rotate in the outpatient setting with the exception of an ER shift once every 4 weeks and a Night Float shift once every 4 weeks. During outpatient time, residents will rotate through their curriculum by spending a full or half-day in the specialty clinics at least once every month.

Residents will be expected to perform at least 80 deliveries, but will have the opportunity to perform many more depending on availability and interest.

Residents will be expected to develop competency in primary care procedures (joint injections/aspirations, skin biopsy, IUD/nexplanons, pap smears) and acute care procedures (cardioversion/defibrillation, intubation, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, fracture reduction/splinting, etc). There will be an opportunity to learn additional procedures during elective time, including endoscopy, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, dilation and curettage, cesarean sections.

During Family Medicine Service in PGY2 and PGY3, residents will take home call for obstetrics and emergency room back up, similar to our physicians who staff these services. There is no additional call scheduled in the second and third years.
