The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is proud to be contributing to the pipeline of rural family medicine physicians through our residency programs, longstanding and newly launched programs alike.

Recently two of our established programs, CentraCare St. Cloud Family Medicine Residency Program and Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program, were included in the Rural Medical Training Collaborative’s 2025 List of Featured Programs with a Proven Track Record of Producing Rural Physicians. Among our graduates from the Duluth residency program and from the St. Cloud program, a total of 58.3 percent and 50 percent of the graduates ended up in rural practice, respectively.

For those interested in networking with rural family physicians and learning more about rural practice, the 2026 RMTC Annual Meeting takes place April 8-10, 2026, in Duluth, Minnesota. This year’s theme is “Charting the Course: Superior Approaches in Rural Medical Education.”
