Morris DPT Pathway
Purpose
To identify, recruit, and support motivated undergraduate learners of diverse backgrounds who are interested in developing expertise in physical activity and human movement and pursuing a career in physical therapy.
Eligibility
Students enrolled at the University of Minnesota Morris campus pursuing a major in Biology or Exercise Science are eligible to apply for the Morris DPT Pathway Program.
Partnership Commitment
The University of Minnesota Morris Division of Science and Mathematics will promote and support undergraduate degree completion in three years. Students accepted into the Morris DPT Pathway will receive early assurance commitment from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Division of Physical Therapy to matriculate to its graduate professional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program following undergraduate degree completion and meeting annual benchmark requirements. CentraCare Rehabilitation will engage as a clinical partner committed to growing the workforce in Greater Minnesota by providing full-time clinical experience placements for Morris DPT Pathway students in the final year of the DPT Program.
Progression Standards
Students are encouraged to work closely with their college academic advisors to develop a course plan aligned with the Morris DPT Pathway timeline. Students are required to maintain minimum cumulative and prerequisite GPAs of 3.0 each term and complete all Morris DPT Pathway requirements to progress. Completion of all academic and non-academic requirements is monitored through a comprehensive Morris DPT Pathway Portfolio. Progressive completion of the Portfolio ensures student readiness to meet DPT program matriculation requirements.
Application
The application cycle for the Morris DPT Pathway will occur March - May, 2025. This early assurance program begins for accepted applicants on July 1st. Complete the online Morris DPT Pathway Application Form as the first step.
