Catalog Description:  In this elective, the student will have an opportunity to experience the clinical practice of child and adolescent psychiatry across settings. Students will be exposed to a broad range of child and adolescent disorders and will assume responsibility for patient management commensurate with their demonstrated ability and initiative. Special emphasis will be placed on the involvement of the family in the evaluation and treatment process. Students will rotate through a variety of clinical sites, including inpatient, outpatient, and/or day treatment opportunities. During this elective, students will work closely with general psychiatry residents, child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, and staff psychiatrists to learn about the diagnosis and treatment of the wide range of psychopathology seen in children and adolescents.
