Catalog Description
This course aims to prepare students who soon will be starting a residency in psychiatry for this experience. Through a mix of informal lectures, small group discussions, role-play simulations, and day-in-the-life rotations with current residents, students will learn and practice the essentials for their first day, week, and month of internship. This will include both psychiatry "content" (e.g., suicide risk assessment, agitation management, differential diagnosis, and managing medication emergencies) and general "survival skills" for residency (e.g., how to staff with attendings, how to maintain self-care, how to manage students and other learners).
Note: Contact the Course Coordinator for any syllabi for previous years.
