Meet Our Residents
Why Child Neurology? I've been set on neurology from day one. Growing up with family members with neurological conditions, I was invested in learning more about the brain and how it works quite early on. Pediatrics was my last rotation of third year in medical school and it just clicked (in that cliche way that everyone says and no one believes until it happens). I'm always in awe of how resilient kiddos are and love working with families as one big team.
Child neurology is a perfect combination of both specialties I enjoy and I'm so grateful that I get to be part of the amazing child neurology community.
Why UMN Child Neurology Residency? My interest in UMN initially stemmed from all the wonderful things I had heard about Minneapolis and the team of faculty establishing the child neurology residency program. My interview experience further solidified my interest and excitement about being a part of the UMN child neurology team. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and enthusiastic about all of the possibilities this new program offers. The immediate sense of community and support was evident and I just knew that I could fit and contribute to this invaluable community.
What are you looking forward to most about residency? The growth! I grew so much professionally but also just as an individual during medical school. I'm excited to continue developing into the best doctor and person that I can be with the guidance of incredible mentors and colleagues at UMN!
Any other fun fact, hobby, etc.? Whenever possible, I love finding new coffee shops, exploring museums, reading anything sci-fi, and attempting to recreate my grandmother's old recipes.
Why Child Neurology? For several years, I worked as a caregiver for children with neurologic conditions. I saw the impact their conditions had on their identity and interactions with the world. I also saw them thrive in their own unique way and realized I wanted to play a role in helping them reach their full potential! Relationship building is a really important part of medicine to me, so I also love that I'll be able to build lifelong relationships with my patients and their families as a pediatric neurologist.
Why UMN Child Neurology Residency? As a UMN medical student, I felt incredibly supported by all of the child neurology faculty here! I knew I would continue to flourish in this learning environment with the mentorship and guidance of my favorite physicians. I also really value the breadth of exposure I'll get from our 4 major clinical sites. This provides exposure to a diverse array of patients, which will prepare me to identify and address the broader factors that impact kids and their health. Lastly, I love living in Minneapolis! From year-round outdoor activities to award-winning restaurants to top-tier sports and music, I think our city has something to offer everyone.
What are you looking forward to most about residency? In residency, I'm beyond thrilled to do what I came into medicine for - care for kids and their amazing families! I'm also so excited to get to know my co-residents (peds, adult neuro, and child neuro) and be surrounded by people who love to learn and have a passion for serving children.
Any other fun fact, hobby, etc.? My hobbies are running along the river and lakes in the city, reading fantasy books, hopping around to farmers markets and thrift stores, and trying as many new restaurants as I can.
