Conversations about Sleep with Dr. Michael Howell and Peng Wu
Sleep is essential for the health of both body and mind. Still, people struggle to get a solid eight hours per night. The stress of school, work and family, often supplemented by sipping on highly-caffeinated coffee or energy drinks, can all inhibit sleep length and quality.
In an effort to help better understand the issue of sleeplessness, Dr. Michael Howell, sleep neurologist at the University of Minnesota Medical School, and Peng Wu, local social practice artist, are working on a collaboration between science and art that aims to start a conversation among the community.
By bringing awareness to this phenomenon, the collaborators hope to make the public stop and rethink things they normally take for granted– in this case, sleep. In listening to others share their experiences, Howell and Wu hope to delve deeper into the cause and effect of sleeplessness.
The event is free and open to the public, no tickets are required.
