Department of Pharmacology welcomes Michael W. Lipscomb

We are pleased to announce the arrival of Michael W. Lipscomb as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology.

Dr. Lipscomb built a productive, visible and independent research program studying immunobiology at Howard University, with concentrations in immunoregulation, autoimmunity, immunology of infectious disease, and biomaterials and microcarrier systems. The focus of his laboratory at the University of Minnesota is to mechanistically describe the immunoregulatory network(s) that govern the differentiation and function of antigen presenting myeloid cells both under steady-state and disease settings. In addition, the lab employs the use of novel biomaterials in nnovative approaches to generate novel organoids for tissue restorative therapies to resolve chronic autoimmune disorders and immunodeficiencies. Dr. Lipscomb recently received news of being awarded the Maximizing Investigator Research Award (MIRA; R35 mechanism) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and is actively recruiting graduate students.
