Dr. Casey (pictured at left) completed her MD at the University of Minnesota, where she won several awards, including a Student Scholarship in Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke awarded by the Scientific Councils of the American Heart Association and In-State Resident Scholarships awarded by the Medical School each year of her program.

She also completed a postbaccalaureate premedical program at the University of Maryland in College Park and earned a BA in psychology from Boston University. She spent about six years working as the Chief Medical Technician for Maryland Vein Professionals in Annapolis.

As an inductee of the Gold Humanism Society, Dr. Casey is a member of that organization’s Mental Health and Service Committees. In addition, she volunteered at the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic in Minneapolis, MN, as an interpreter (she is fluent in Spanish) and Student Medical Clinician.

Dr. Casey built her research skills at the Brain Injury Research Laboratory at what was then Hennepin County Medical Center (now Hennepin Healthcare) in Minneapolis, and in the laboratory of Keith Solomon, PhD, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She also helped co-author some journal articles.

When Dr. Casey has free time, she enjoys being with friends and family, volunteering, learning martial arts, traveling, surfing, snowboarding, hiking, cooking, practicing yoga, appreciating art, and watching sports.
