Dept of Ob/Gyn & CCRM-MN: A collaborative teaching and training partnership

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health is excited to announce a collaborative training agreement with a world-class fertility clinic that’s new to the Twin Cities market. CCRM Minneapolis, a partner clinic of the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM), will provide highly specialized fertility services and be the teaching and training partner for the University of Minnesota’s obstetrics and gynecology residents. The new clinic opened on July 1, 2015, and will begin working with University residents this year.

CCRM Minneapolis was started as a partnership between CCRM founder William Schoolcraft, MD, and April Batcheller, MD, a local reproductive endocrinologist. The original clinic in Colorado is one of the nation’s leading reproductive medicine centers, known for its wide variety of fertility treatments ranging from basic infertility care to highly advanced in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology. CCRM Minneapolis is bringing that world-class care to the Twin Cities market, offering the same level of service and success for patients in Minnesota.

With the training agreement, Batcheller and her team will be working with physician residents from our Ob/Gyn department for six-week rotations in the CCRM Minneapolis clinic. This collaboration means that our Year 2 residents will get skills and experience in assisted reproductive technology (ART) while working in a cutting-edge, state-of-the-art research facility and clinic that has been a leader in the field of reproductive medicine. The ability to be involved in fertility research and the application of that research is a dramatic step forward for our Ob/Gyn training.
