Last week, Doctors Without Borders came to Coffman Memorial Union Theater for a panel discussion on life as a refugee and how university doctors and students can get involved.

Many university doctors have volunteered with the organization, including Dr. Joseph Keenan who has been to Nigeria, Sudan and Ethiopia. “The best way for [University] students to prepare for a possible career with [DWB] is to volunteer locally with high risk or under-served groups here in town,” he told the Minnesota Daily in an interview.

Other doctors, like Dr. Sarah Kesler, see it as a way to improve their patient care here at the university. “I think that DWB is something many students are interested in pursuing,” she said. “[But] I think debt makes it a problem for many.”
