Research surrounding brain injuries as a result of sports has seen a boost in recent years thanks to several groundbreaking studies. A new study, published in the Journal of Neurosurgery, found that it may be possible to diagnose brain injuries through a simple blood test. Third-year physical medicine and rehabilitation resident Dr. Sima Patel discusses the study in her article for ABC news.

"This study adds to the pool of knowledge about head trauma, and additional larger studies will need to be done to figure out what levels of NF-L are normal and what levels are elevated," she writes.
