Dr. Gihan Gunaratne, alumnus of the Graduate Program in Pharmacology (2018), is the first author of a paper published in iScience in December 2021. Titled, "Identification of a dihydropyridine scaffold that blocks ryanodine receptors", the study was a collaboration between the Timothy Walseth Lab, Jonathan Marchant's Lab and Razvan Cornea and Robyn Rebbeck from the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics (BMBB).
Dr. Gunaratne was also the first author of a paper published in Science Signaling in March of 2021, titled "Essential requirement for JPT2 inNAADP-evoked Ca2+ signaling." That study was a collaboration between the Walseth and Marchant Labs. Dr. Gunaratne presented the data at a "Special Session on NAADP Signaling" on February 18, 2021 at the 15th International Meeting of the European Calcium Society.
