Navigating federal funding agencies like the NSF and NIH can feel a bit like being lost in a labyrinth. It can feel like everyone expects you to know basic information about federal funding about what division you're applying to, what funding opportunity announcement you're going after, or who (or even what) program officer is, but what if you never got those lessons in graduate school? In this workshop, we will look together at the federal agency funding basics, including everything from which federal agency, division or institute to target, how to make contact with your program officer, who reviews your grant proposal application, and how to write a good introduction that communicates expertise not only in your field, but in grant writing more generally.
