Incorporating Virtual Reality Technology in Rehabilitation

Virtual reality (VR), to most, is seen as technology in video games to assist in creating a simulated environment. Put on the virtual reality goggles and get taken into a different environment. It's all fun and games. 

But to Teresa Bisson, Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy, the movements in virtual reality could help assist patients who have experienced mobility difficulties. Teresa introduced and incorporated virtual reality in her Neurorehabilitation course to physical therapy students by partnering with the University of Minnesota Libraries Makerspace and Allied Health Sciences. Physical therapy students have the opportunity to experience VR and understand how they can utilize innovative technology in patient care.
