The experience of getting to and through graduate school for first-generation (FG) students now in graduate school hosts its own challenges and opportunities. During this facilitated conversation, speakers will present research about being FG in graduate school, talk about cultivating and co-creating communities of belonging, and discuss the transition from undergraduate to graduate school. This is an opportunity to open conversation between staff, faculty, and students and reflect on what it means to live in the intersectionality of being first-generation college student in graduate school and the role the institution can play in supporting first-generation students through this experience.
