Jean Regal, PhD, Appointed Interim Department Head for Biomedical Sciences

As we are continuing our search for a permanent head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences on the Duluth campus of our Medical School, I am happy to announce that Jean Regal, PhD, has accepted the role of interim department head.

Dr. Regal has been a professor in the department since 1997 and is an NIH-funded researcher focused on cardiopulmonary disease. She serves as the director of the Women's Faculty Mentoring Program and received an award for Outstanding Faculty Mentoring in 2019.

Dr. Regal was strongly recommended by her colleagues, and I have every confidence that she will provide the steady leadership needed at this time. I look forward to collaborating with her and others in the department on the important work in front of us.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Regal to her new role and in thanking Dr. Trachte for his service to the Medical School.
