Dr. Drewes Publishes Article on "A New Paradigm for Drug Delivery to Brain Tumors"
Lester Drewes, PhD, a professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus, recently co-authored an article titled, "Addressing BBB Heterogeneity: A New Paradigm for Drug Delivery to Brain Tumors."
The article discusses how effective treatments for brain tumors remain one of the most urgent and unmet needs in modern oncology. Noting that glioblastomas are significantly diffused within the tissue, this review discusses the obstacles for the delivery of anti-tumor agents and suggests a new paradigm for developing novel strategies and improving treatment success.
This manuscript emerged from presentations at a symposium of the Society for Neuro-Oncology conference in 2019 and involves collaborators at the Mayo Clinic and the UMN College of Pharmacy.
