Mei Bigliardi-Qi, PhD, Associate Professor in the Tenure Track

We are very excited to announce that Mei Bigliardi-Qi, PhD,  is now an Associate Professor on the Tenure Track in the Department of Dermatology. In 2019, Dr. Mei Bigliardi-Qi joined the Dermatology Department as an Associate Professor with a two year start up package from the Dean of the Medical School.

Dr. Mei Bigliardi-Qi is considered a leader in her field. She is an accomplished and engaged scientist who also does well with team science activities, including working closely with engineers and others in health science related fields. She has helped to pioneer the discovery and characterization of neurotransmitter and sensory receptors in skin and developed a 3D skin system, as well as a 2D epithelial cell and peripheral neuron co-culture model, to dissect multiple signaling pathways in the skin. Her work with the 3D skin system received an award from the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International, or AAALAC, in 2018. Dr. Mei Bigliardi-Qi's talents and knowledge have also led to her co-inventing and filing 6 patent applications. Dr. Bigliardi-Qi’s research laboratory at the University of Minnesota is in the Stem Cell Institute.
