Anniina Färkkilä, MD/PhD
Principal Investigator, Academy of Finland Clinical research Fellow
Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Research Program in Systems Oncology &
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital
Anniina Färkkilä is a gynecologist, and a Principal Investigator at the Research Program for Systems Oncology, University of Helsinki, Finland. She was trained as a gynecologist and did her PhD at the University of Helsinki. During 2017-2019 she did a postdoctoral fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School focusing on predictive biomarkers and mechanisms of therapy resistance in ovarian cancer. After 2019 she returned to Helsinki, Finland to set up her own laboratory focusing on understanding the complexity and cell-cell interactions in the tumor microenvironment using genomics, highly multiplexed imaging, bioinformatics, and functional models in ovarian cancer. She is particularly interested in uncovering features that delineate the responses to novel combination- and immunotherapies.
