Stroke in MN’s Hmong Population: Biological and Cultural Considerations

Early last August, Haitham Hussein, MD, Associate Professor in the Vascular Neurology division presented at Neurology Grand Rounds. He shared valuable insights on health differences and disparities in ethnic groups, specifically the Hmong population in Minnesota. At the Grand Rounds, he met the objectives of describing the background of Hmong as an ethnic group, describing the medical, social, and cultural challenges they face, stroke patterns and observations in Hmong patients, and identifying barriers in stroke care.
