Why did you choose the University of Minnesota Medical School and what do you like about it?
I chose the University of Minnesota Medical School for its strong commitment and emphasis on community engagement and research. I am deeply passionate about addressing health disparities in our communities and improving healthcare access for underserved populations. The opportunities to actively engage in these areas are what drew me to the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Have you participated in any student organizations? If so, why did you select those organizations and what has been your experience?
With my passion for community engagement and advocacy, I joined the Mobile Health Initiative board and the Student National Medical Association board as the Development Coordinator and Community Chair, respectively. I am also one of the founders of the Somali American Medical Association (SAMA) where we held several community events in collaboration with the Mobile Health Initiative aimed at raising awareness about various health topics and conducting health screening events.
