Favorite activities to do in the Twin Cities?

Breweries, theater, restaurants, music, farmers’ market, and local art events!

Why did you choose the University of Minnesota Medical School and what do you like about it?

I wanted to pursue LGBT+ healthcare advocacy, clinical research, and live in a progressive city—UMN has all of that! I also liked how the faculty at UMN are easily accessible and want to engage with medical students!

Have you participated in any student organizations? If so, why did you select those organizations and what has been your experience?

I was a past leader of PRIDE in Healthcare, which is the LGBT+ student health professions group at UMN! The group is a great community of people who identify as LGBT+ or allies! The group has taken on a number of projects including advocacy to ban conversion therapy and ice cream socials during Pride month!

I was also the PSG representative to the UMN Board of Regents. My focus was on advancing student mental health at UMN. This was an excellent opportunity to work for my peers while learning a lot about governance and the special relationship UMN has with our state.

Additional Comments:

The faculty and staff at the medical school are very supportive of student initiatives and ideas!
